Description
An ancient temple of Lord Shiva built at one of the topmost peak of Ratnagiri district. While Someshwar show the soft, soothing sight of Sahyadri, Tikaleshwar and Marleshwar never fails to show us the difficult, terrifying yet adventurous parts of it. Marked by deep, spine-chilling valleys and rough rock patches Tikaleshwar seems to be symbolic of the “Raudraroop” of Shiva. Although it is equally calming due to presence of dense lush green forests of the Sahyadri.
This place attracts devotees and adventurous trekkers alike. A few steps down the top there’s a path for “Pradakshina” around the temple. This path has a lot of small caves and rocks carved with ancient figurines. These spots are special attractions for artists
Approach
Motorable road till few hundred meters below the peak. From there around 1 hour trek leads to beautiful hill top. Another path is a relatively steep trek, around 5-6 hrs walk, from the base of Tikaleshwar hill
